Sankeys launches a campaign for a new club and wants people in Kent to vote for it

A new nightclub could be coming to Kent - if enough people vote for it to happen.

Following the closure of legendary Manchester club Sankeys after its base was sold for development, Sankeys has launched a campaign to open elsewhere around the country - and it wants local people to help.

It wants to see a Sankeys club established in 20 towns and cities around the UK, with clubbers having the chance to vote for their town. The leading club brand has venues in Ibiza, London and Tokyo.

According to the Night Time Industries Association, in the past 10 years almost 50% of nightclubs have shut their doors.

The joint campaign is between Sankeys and the association. Association chairman Alan Miller said: "We are proud to be working with the team for Sankeys. After the shocking news that Sankeys in Manchester was closing after over 20 years, 20 cities in UK have the chance for a new club. Join the campaign have your voice heard and then sign our petition."

Under the #DoYouWannaSankeys campaign, the more support an area gets, the more investment and activity Sankeys aims to bring to its nightlife scene.

The ultimate aim would be for a permanent club but there could be regular events in pop up spaces.
