HAMID BARR: became a free agent at the end of last season

FANS of Tonbridge Angels FC are celebrating the return of former terrace-hero Hamid Barr.

The attacking midfielder and former assistant-manager signed on the dotted line on Monday night and has joined the squad for their tour of the north-east.

Barr left Longmead in 2004 for Fisher Athletic but became a free agent at the end of last season when Fisher’s new manager released the entire first team.

Tonbridge chairman Nick Sullivan said: "Hamid and Tony (Dolby) have always been friends and we have been having discussions with him (Hamid) because he was not sure what he was going to do after being released and it all snowballed from there.

"He is one of those players who gets the crowd excited when he is on the ball and on his day he can give us the wow factor.

"He is only 28 but because he been around for such a long time people think he is older."
