Fire crews fight bedroom blaze in Westgate-on-Sea, near Margate

A woman has been treated for smoke inhalation following a house fire.

Crews were called to the incident inside a property in Westgate Bay Avenue, Westgate-on-Sea, just after 12.40pm today.

Fire service officials say the blaze started in a first-floor bedroom.

A spokesman said: "Two fire engines attended the incident and crews arrived to a fire in the first floor bedroom of the property.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jet and a covering jet to extinguish the fire.

"One person was passed into the care of paramedics for precautionary checks."

The flames were extinguished after a 40-minute fight just before 1.25pm.

The cause of the fire has yet to be identified.
