Respected journalist ken Bindoff dies

RETIRED Kent journalist Ken Bindoff, who covered many headline-making stories during a long career, has died at his home at Broadstairs. He was 93.

The stories Mr Bindoff reported on included murders, shipwrecks, the Torrey Canyon oil disaster and the hunt for Great Train robber James Edward White.

The Kent Messenger and the Daily Mirror were among the many newspapers he worked for during a distinquished career lasting more than 60 years. He lived in Broadstairs most of his life.

Mr Bindoff leaves a widow, daughter, son-in-law and grand-daughter.

The funeral will be held at St Peter's Church, Bekesbourne, near Canterbury, on Tuesday (December 7) at 1pm.
