Woman treated for breathing in smoke after kitchen fire at house in Broadstairs

A woman who inhaled smoke believed to have been caused by burned cooking had to be given oxygen.

Firefighters and medics were called to a house in Alderney Gardens, Broadstairs last night after a fire in the kitchen.

The woman, who was in her late 60s, was given oxygen therapy after breathing in the fumes.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said she was passed into the care of ambulance staff.
