Now, the museum of toys, collectables and rare items is looking for a Master of Miniature.

A spokesman for The Wonder Works explained: “We are looking for someone whose dream is to be immersed in the world of modelling, and to spend each day surrounded by famous brands such as Airfix, Corgi, Hornby, Pocher and Scalextric.

“It takes a special person to master their hobby so that it becomes a craft.

“These are skills that cannot be taught, it is a passion that transcends the everyday.

“Would you like to show off your modelling skills, engage with and educate visitors to the exhibition, and share your excitement for the world of miniature?”

The centre has recently been “reimagined” and is now an “incredible immersive experience”, showcasing world-famous collectables from model railway makers Hornby Hobbies and other brands.

An ideal candidate would be a craftsman and entertainer, ready to "bring their inner child to work”.

For more information and to make an application, visit the Hornby Hobbies website.

Hornby has been operating at its Margate factory for almost 70 years.

A brand new micro Scalextric Gotham City is available to see as well as existing attractions such as a motorcycle used in the latest James Bond film.
