TV chef Rosemary Shrager, star of I'm a Celebrity, visits Court Regis care home, Middletune Avenue, Sittingbourne

TV chef Rosemary Shrager found time in her busy schedule to have a cup of tea and a slice of cake with staff and residents at a care home.

The 63-year-old, who appeared on the ITV programme I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2012, popped into Court Regis in Middletune Avenue on Wednesday.

She was invited to the venue to mark Nutrition and Hydration Week which ran from March 17-23.

The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the importance of good nutritional care, which includes hydration, in all social and healthcare settings throughout the UK.

During her visit, she also judged a bake-off competition involving several cooks who work at other facilities run by Avante Partnership Ltd.

Activity co-ordinator Ashley Roberts said: “Rosemary happily chatted to staff and residents throughout the afternoon and posed for photographs.

“The winner of the bake-off was announced as the cook from Bridge Haven Care Home in Bridge, Canterbury.”

Not wanting to miss out, two members of staff from the Morrisons distribution centre in Kemsley popped in to host a cream tea the next day.

The company donated all the scones, jams and cream to the party, to which clients’ family members were also invited.

Organiser Lewis Gray said: “We wanted to get more involved in our local community – and naturally we couldn’t think of a better way of doing that than through offering some great food.

“We really hope the residents enjoyed their afternoon as much as we enjoyed preparing it for them.”
