Two primary schools girls are raising money for charity by doing their very own version
of the Olympic triathlon – running, cycling and a three-legged race.
The Minterne Community Junior School pupils are heading to Albany Park in Sittingbourne this Friday with the aim of raising more than £300 for Kent Air Ambulance.
Ruby Websper and Mollie Whitehead, who are both nine, came up with the idea to help the vital service because Mollie’s parents both have close ties to the emergency medical professions.
Her dad Martin is a nurse clinician and her mum is a midwife.
Staff at Kent Air Ambulance were so impressed at the girl’s fundraising spirit they gave them T-shirts and wristbands.
Ruby said: “We thought if we did the three-legged race we could cross the finish line together.”
Mollie said: “I’m very excited because this is the second charity thing I’ve done – before I sold loom bands to raise money.
“And we’ve practised lots for this.”
Anyone wishing to sponsor the girls is welcome to go along to Albany Park at 5pm to collect a form.
