Joe Dowley wants to give Sittingbourne chairman Andy Spice (pictured) a further boost by steering the club to another victory in the FA Trophy.

The Brickies travel to Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 Central side Uxbridge in the first qualifying round tomorrow (Saturday), to face a side who sit three points ahead of Northwood, whom Bourne beat dramatically in extra-time of the replay in the previous round.

After overseeing two wins and a draw, Dowley’s first defeat came in The Alan Boon Cup on Tuesday with a 2-0 home reverse to Hastings

Dowley was not too downhearted, saying: "We could have been two or three up, we created some good chances. We played well, so we are disappointed to have lost, but we were playing a strong team."

Right-back Vince Holness and centre-back Jon Hogg played and they could feature at Uxbridge, along with the returning Anthony Hogg, Sam Groombridge and Callum Crawley – a new signing who started out at West Ham and played alongside Dowley’s assistant Brian Glover at Weymouth.

Dowley said: "Uxbridge are in the same league as Northwood, and although it went to a replay, they didn’t cause us too many problems.

"Winning the last round put a smile on the chairman's face, so hopefully we can get through another round which would be great for the club."
