Missing man found safe

A man who went missing from his Sittingbourne home has been found safe and well.

Support worker Bernard Barnett, disappeared from his home in Sterling Road at 7.30am on Wednesday, December 8.

The police helicopter was scrambled yesterday (Thursday) to search for him. Members of Kent Search and Rescue who joined the search found the missing 51-year-old in a churchyard in Tunstall just after 6pm last night.

DC Steve Rees from the Area Major Enquiry Team at Sittingbourne Police Station said: "We are pleased that Mr Barnett has been found safe and well and we would like to thank everyone who helped, particularly members of the Kent Search and Rescue Team who found him so promptly."
