Man arrested on suspicion of driving under influence after police respond to suspected dangerous driving in St Michael’s Road, Sittingbourne

A man has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence.

The suspect was detained after police were called to a report of a van driving dangerously in St Michael’s Road, Sittingbourne.

The vehicle is reported to have crashed with two others before coming to a stop on its side.

Police officers attended, along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service, at around 8.45pm yesterday (Friday).

The driver, a local man in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries and was then arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

He was subsequently released on bail pending further inquiries.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen what happened to come forward.
