A MOTORIST from Sittingbourne suffered serious injuries today when the car he was driving collided with a parked transit van in Sheerness.

His silver Vauxhall Vectra collided with the van parked along Sheerness High Street with the junction of St Helen's Road at about 2.50am.

Both the van and the car crashed into the front garden of a property, destroying a wall.

Police closed the road for most of the morning while they removed the vehicles.

The man, aged 22, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital where police say his injuries are no longer life-threatening.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Insp Ian Williams on 01795 584175.
