Former Wetherspoon’s catering manager arrested in Mill Way, Sittingbourne

A former Wetherspoon’s worker was pulled over after CCTV operators told police they thought she was under the influence.

Vauxhall Astra driver Jodie Taylor was stopped in Mill Way, Sittingbourne, and asked to provide a specimen for analysis.

The 26-year-old was unable to provide one at the roadside and was arrested and taken to a police station.

Officers requested she do further tests there, but she only managed to produce one sample – procedure dictates drink-drive suspects take three tests to confirm they are over the limit.

She was then searched and a small amount of cocaine was found on her and it was later discovered she had no insurance to drive the Astra.

Taylor, of Peregrine Drive in the town, was later charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis, possession of cocaine and driving without insurance.

She admitted the offences when she appeared before magistrates in Maidstone on August 1.

Debbie Jones, prosecuting, told the court Taylor was spotted getting into her car around 12.30am on January 13.

The court also heard the former Wetherspoon’s catering manager doesn’t usually consume cocaine and only had a small amount in her bloodstream.

The bench was also told she was remorseful for her actions and had got in her car to find her sister.

Taylor was banned from driving for 14 months and fined £750 for all the offences – she was also ordered she pay a victim surcharge of £300 and £85 costs.

If Taylor completes a drink-driving course, her ban will be reduced by a quarter.
