Boy injured falling through skylight

A BOY is lucky to be alive after he fell 20ft from a tree, through a glass skylight, and into Sittingbourne Paper Mill.

It happened just before 7pm on Sunday while the 12-year-old was playing with friends near the back of The Forresters public house in Charlotte Street.

Mill spokesman Dave Scudder said: "We believe he climbed a wall into the tree and then fell through the skylight into our electrical sub station, so he was very lucky not be electrocuted.

"This boy is extremely lucky to be alive. The back of the mill is very dangerous but it does have proper security protection. I suppose boys will be boys."

The boy, who lives in nearby Crown Road, Milton Regis, was taken to hospital in Gillingham where his injuries are said to be not life-threatening. Paramedics treated him at the scene for a suspected broken collar-bone and arm as well as head injuries.

The boy's family did not wish to comment.
