Sheerness East manager Dave Down will be keeping his fingers crossed that this Saturday’s Kent Intermediate Challenge Shield 2nd round tie at Cray Valley goes ahead as scheduled.

The postponement of last Saturday’s league fixture with Stansfeld O&B Club means that Down’s side haven’t had a match since December 13, and he said: “The way the weather forecast is looking I’m not very hopeful for this Saturday either.

“It’s very difficult because we haven’t been able to train or do anything, but at least everyone is in the same boat.”

*AFC Sheppey missed out on a quarter-final place when they were beaten 2-1 by AFC Sevenoaks in the second round of the Les Leckie Cup on Saturday.
