Fresh from a successful New Year's Eve party at the Ivy Leaf, Sheerness, local rapper M Dot R is aiming to make it big.

The Sheppey born-and-bred hip-hop artist - real name Moses McGeorge - says he had never seen a reception like it on the Island before.

Now he is trying to get signed to a record contract and put his home town on the map.

At the moment, the 26-year-old, of Richmond Street, Sheerness, has released five CDs, has a Facebook following of more than 1,000 and even has his own dance known as the "money man dance".

M Dot R started rapping at the age of 10 and was performing on pirate radio stations and nightclubs by the time he was 14.

Despite being underage he was allowed to do gigs at Woody's nightclub, Sheerness, so long as he stayed away from alcohol.

Since then he has appeared at venues in Kent and London including Chimes, formerly the Underground in Sheerness.

His personal highlight was when he finished his first recording. I'll never forget the time I released my first CD. It was just overwhelming to say it was my CD, my music."

His main influences are N-Dubz, Wiley and Chipmunk but he wants to change people's image of UK urban music.

"I want to show that you don't have to be a bad boy from London to be famous. You can rap about absolutely anything. I don't even swear in my music. I want mums and dads to listen to my music and not say this will be bad for my kids."

He used to be known as MC Skallier before changing to his current stage name which is based on his first initials Moses Robert.

He is still performing and hopes to get a video on Channel AKA on digital TV.
