Three manhole covers, which were damaged by a lorry, have been repaired.

One of our eagle-eyed readers fortunately spotted the gaping holes in the pavement before falling down them last week.

The covers belong to BT and are along Minster Road, opposite the Isle of Sheppey Academy in Minster.

A spokesman for BT said they sent an engineer along to make the area safe as soon as they were aware of the damage, on Monday evening.

It is thought they were accidentally damaged by some kind of heavy delivery vehicle which had parked up on the pavement.

They have now been replaced.

The spokesman added: “It is extremely regrettable when we experience any kind of accidental damage to our equipment or network.

“Our priority is always to carry out the required repairs as quickly as we can which is what we did in this case.

“No one was without service as a result of the damage.”
