A heartless thief swiped a bag from an ambulance while paramedics were busy caring for a patient.
The emergency crew were responding to a medical incident at a property in Sevenoaks when the bag - which contained personal items - was taken.
It happened in Greatness Lane at some time between 12.30am and 1.15am yesterday.
Ch Insp Mark Stubberfield said: "It is completely unacceptable that staff from South East Coast Ambulance Service have been targeted whilst responding to an emergency.
"This bag contained personal items and we are appealing for witnesses or anybody with information to contact us."
Officers are also asking drivers with dashcam who were in the area, and residents with CCTV, to check for footage that may assist the investigation.
Anyone with information should call Kent Police on 01622 604100 quoting reference 25-0092
