The institution’s School of History has joined the judging panel for the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards to find the educators who are bringing the past to life in the classroom.

Dr Julie Anderson said: “We are immensely proud to support this particular teacher of the year award. History is all about teaching, it’s all about people and we’ve found wonderful teachers in the local area.”

The university is also calling for nominations for the county’s top teachers in maths, politics, biology, physics, chemistry, forensics, and languages.

Dr Heide Kunzelmann of the University of Kent’s School of Modern Languages said: “Languages are extremely important - they are key to the world. We are very proud to honour the good work that’s being done in Kent schools.”

Members of the public - including fellow members of staff, parents and pupils - can make their nominations using the simple online form at www.kentteacheroftheyear.co.uk until the March 1 deadline.

The awards judging panel will include representatives from Social Enterprise Kent, Kent Sport and Physical Activity Service, SELT, Project Salus, CXK, Kreston Reeves, Loop CR Ltd, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Medway Council, Kent County Council, Canterbury Christ Church University, Leeds Castle and the Marlowe Theatre.

A glittering awards dinner to congratulate more than 50 staff and schools will be staged at Leeds Castle this May.
