Champagne for anniversary celebrations

A charity has celebrated its 20th anniversary with a Christmas party.

The Island Partnership is a charity which aims to help people find jobs through training and development programmes.

On Friday there was a celebration held at its headquarters in The Old Library, Sheerness.

More than 30 guests attended including the Mayor and Mayoress of Swale, cllrs Alan and Jean Willicombe and the founder trustee of the partnership and labour ward member for Sheerness West, cllr Steve Worrall.

Past and present volunteers and students of the partnership, as well as local business leaders who support the charity were also there.

Guests were treated to a glass of champagne and festive nibbles and there was also a photographic exhibition celebrating 20 years of Sheppey life.

Cllr Worrall was given the honour of cutting the celebration cake.

Paul West, centre manager, said: “We have achieved so much over the last twenty years and I am certain we will continue to play a vital role in the community over the coming years.”

He also thanked everyone for their continued support.
