Teen in court accused of pointing laser at police helicopter

A teenager from Chattenden has appeared in magistrates court via virtual link today, Wednesday, after allegedly shining a laser light at the Kent Police helicopter on earlier this week.

Jordan Burnett, 18, was charged with recklessly or negligently acting in a manner likely to endanger an aircraft, after apparently shining the light at the helicopter on Monday night.

Burnett, of Elmwood Road, did not enter a plea against the allegation and the case was adjourned, he was granted bail.

He also faces another charge of shoplifting and his case will be committed to Maidstone Crown Court when it is next heard at Medway Magistrates Court.

The case is expected to reach the crown court by August 26.
