Footballers who have quit smoking are being asked to join a new club.

Medway Stop Smoking Service is running the Smokefree United campaign, which aims to help players at all levels of the game quit the habit.

As part of the scheme the organisation, which is part of NHS Medway, is forming a football team made up of people who have used the service to stop smoking.

Julia Thomas, Medway’s Stop Smoking Service manager said: “If your new year’s resolution is to improve your fitness, stay smokefree and make new friends then our new football team is just the ticket for you.

“We are looking to recruit players who have quit with the help of the NHS service to play matches with a number of well-know teams from across the south east, including AFC Smokefree from Portsmouth, who helped launch the national Smokefree United campaign.

If you want to join the team call Joscelin Yates on 01634 823550 or email joscelin.yates@medwaypct.nhs.uk
