Milkin’ Medway delivery service ceases trading after cost of living affects customer numbers

A once popular milk delivery service has ceased trading after orders dropped “due to the cost of living crisis”.

Milkin’ Medway served the Towns and nearby areas but has seen a decline and cutback in orders as people look to save every penny.

The delivery service was set up by former milkman Greg Smith, from Twydall, in 2020, but announced today will be the company’s last day.

In a statement to customers on Thursday, Greg and the Milkin’ Medway team said: “Unfortunately we have made the difficult decision to cease trading from 8am on Friday.

“The cost of living crisis has seen us lose many customers, as well as customers reducing their orders.

“While we understand the need to cut back, a business must remain profitable to survive sustainably and we are no longer in a position to do so.”

The company will be arranging to pay back customers who are in credit over the next week or two.

Greg added: “A big thank you to everyone who has supported our journey since August 2020.

“It’s been an honour to serve our community for nearly three years. Time for a new challenge.”

Greg and the Milkin’ Medway team were praised in 2021 after coming to the rescue of Snodland pensioner Patrick Clements after his usual provider Milk & More asked him to set up an online account.

The 93-year-old retiree had been getting delviered milk for 60 years and when he was unable to set up the account, Greg and team stepped in to deliver it to his door.
