Police called to disturbance in Village View, Chatham and a man, 39, was injured after jumping from fence and then arrested on suspicion of assault

The air ambulance, police and paramedics were called to an incident in Chatham last night after reports of a disturbance.

A man, who was thought to be intoxicated, suffered injuries after allegedly jumping from a fence. He was taken to hospital by road ambulance with injuries not thought to be life threatening.

Police were called to Village View in Luton at 8pm, and the air ambulance was called at 9pm. The helicopter is believed to have landed at Luton Rec and the crew were escorted to the scene by police.

A police spokesman said: "A 39-year-old man, from Chatham, has been arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage. He remains in custody."

Police were also called to Thorold Road, Chatham, at 7.30pm following a report of a domestic incident.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of breaching the peace and is currently in custody.
