THIS is the face of a man police wish to question in connection with the attempted abduction of a young schoolgirl.

The 11-year-old girl was walking in the Benenden Road area of Wainscott, near Rochester, on Wednesday afternoon when the stranger pulled up in his van and grabbed her.

He tried to force her into the front seat of his van, but the girl struggled free and ran to her home nearby. Although terrified by her ordeal, she managed to give detectives a good description of the man.

Police are warning children to be on their guard. Det Sgt Derek Littler said: "If anyone recognises this man and knows of his whereabouts they should contact us immediately."

The man is described as white, aged between 25 and 35, muscular with black hair. He wore dark clothing.
