Boston terrier attacked by 'pitbull' in Upnor High Street

A dog was left with five puncture marks after being attacked while on a walk.

Three-year-old Boston terrier Patti was with her owner Alan Clark in Upnor, near Rochester, on Monday when he said an unaccompanied dog "came out of nowhere" and bit her.

Alan's wife, Julie, said: "When my husband saw the dog he was concerned so turned around and walked away. But then it came out of nowhere and knocked him down and bit her in the head.

"Eventually the dog let go and my husband took hold of it by the collar and went to the nearby pub to get help."

The incident took place at around 1pm in the High Street, and Patti had been wearing a lead.

The 68-year-old went on Facebook to put up a warning about the incident, and has since seen other posts about the same dog, which they think is a pitbull.

"It's a licensed dangerous dog, it's meant to be muzzled at all times," she said. "It's a disaster waiting to happen."

Patti suffered bites to her head and face, and had to have antibiotics.

She had five punctures in total, with one only just missing her eye.

Julie continued: "Luckily because she's a submissive dog she didn't put up any fight which meant she just got punctures instead of tears.

"She's making a good recovery physically, but I am worried about her psychologically.

"She's such a submissive dog anyway and she's never been aggressive.

"We took her out for the first time yesterday as we want to get her used to it again, but I am worried."

Police have confirmed they were called at 1.10pm to a report that a man walking his dog fell to the floor after another dog pushed him over.

A spokesman said: "The man did not suffer any serious injuries.

"The victim’s dog is alleged to have been attacked and was taken to a vet for treatment to injuries. Inquiries into the incident are ongoing."
