Crash closes the A228 in both directions at Five Oak Green between B2017 Badsell Road and B2160 Maidstone Road

A man was freed from an upturned car after an accident in Five Oak Green.

Emergency services were called at 6.10am after reports of a car in a ditch off Whetsted Road near Tonbridge, with someone trapped inside.

The A228 was closed in both directions at the roundabout at the junction with Badsell Road and the Hop Farm roundabout at the junction with Maidstone Road and Branbridges Road.

Firefighters had cut the man, in his 20s, out of the car by 7am.

He was placed on a spinal longboard and taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital by ambulance with facial and pelvic injuries.

The road was reopened at 7.35am.
