Trains from Maidstone East suspended for safety checks

Train services between Ashford International and Otford via Maidstone East have started running again after earlier being suspended.

Staff have carried out safety checks on the up-line to London between Maidstone East and Otford after sparks were reported coming from beneath the 3.55pm service to Blackfriars.

Some services were diverting via Tonbridge.

The downline from London was still running, but services were being delayed.

Replacement buses were provided between Maidstone East and Swanley.

Southeastern says services will now start to return to normal.
