Two collisions cause traffic delays

Motorists trying to get into Maidstone faced road closures and delays after two collisions.

A head-on collision involving two cars happened at 6.30am on the A229 at Linton crossroads.

Fire crews from Maidstone said the cars were badly damaged but both drivers had managed to free themselves before they got there.

The collision was causing delays for motorists around 8am.

Three cars were also involved in a collision around 6.30am at the junction of Station Road and Marden Road in Staplehurst.

Police said no one was seriously injured in the accident, but around 8am the road was still closed.

Recovery vehicles attended the scene and a police spokesman said the road was due to re-open shortly.
