Maidstone men bailed after man left with 'serious head injuries' after assault in Pudding Lane

Two men have been bailed after a man was left with serious injuries following a town centre fight.

The victim remains in hospital with serious head injuries after the incident in Pudding Lane, Maidstone, last Thursday.

Police closed the road between The Herbalist bar and The Old House at Home pub for seven hours while a forensic investigation was carried out.

The road was closed between 7.45pm and 3am.

A 23-year-old man from Maidstone who was arrested on suspicion of assault, and a 37-year-old man, also from the town, and arrested on suspicion of affray, were both bailed on Thursday, March 3.

A force spokesman confirmed a disturbance had broken out and the first patrols arrived to the street where shattered glass could be seen on the pavement near a bus stop.

A man suffered serious injuries and was flown to hospital after getting treatment in Pudding Lane from ambulance crews.

The air ambulance landed in Mote Park. It took off around 9.30pm.

Officers could also be seen in the park putting items of clothing into bags.

A police spokesman added: "Patrols were called to a report of a disturbance in Pudding Lane.

"Officers attended and a man has been taken to a London hospital by air ambulance for medical attention."
