Tonbridge Angels manager Tommy Warrilow calls for administrators to look again at effect of bad weather on football

Tonbridge manager Tommy Warrilow believes administrators will have to become more flexible in order for clubs to cope with the fixture problems caused by the cold snap.

The Angels haven’t played a game since the 1-1 home draw with Kingstonian on November 27 and one consequence of their weather-hit December is that they are now facing the prospect of playing eight matches in January in a bid to catch up.

Yet Warrilow (pictured) pointed out that, with a little better planning, some of that congestion could have been avoided.

He said: "A few weeks back when the weather was okay, we didn’t have a game on a Saturday and nor did Aveley. We are supposed to be playing them at home in February, but why couldn’t that game have been brought forward? That would have freed up a Saturday for one of the postponed matches.

"We have got lots of people working hard to help this club progress, plus all our sponsors, but their efforts could be in vain if we end playing three or four matches a week again at the end of the season, like we did last year, especially with the 17-man squad that we’ve got."
