Man tasered and pulled out of river before being arrested in Maidstone bailed by police

Two men who were arrested in an incident which saw one of them tasered and pulled out of a river have been bailed by police.

Officers on patrol at around 2.30pm on Thursday saw two men from Orpington acting suspiciously in Mill Street, Maidstone.

One of the men, aged 20, was stopped and arrested in connection with drug offences.

The second man, aged 19, was tasered before he entered the river Len and the officers then assisted him onto the riverbank next to Palace Avenue where he was also arrested for drug offences.

A quantity of suspected drugs have been seized.

Shouting could be heard from inside the nearby Archbishop's Palace at the time, where an inquest into the death of a child rapist who died in a Kent prison was being held.

Both men were later bailed to return to the police station on May 24.

Construction firm Logic CP, located near the scene of the incident, declined to comment.
