Parcel bomb murder suspect due in court

A MAN suspected of a parcel bomb killing in Kent 18 years ago is due to appear before magistrates in Maidstone tomorrow (Friday).

Keith Cottingham, 71, is being extradited from his home in Spain. On his return to Kent he is expected to be charged with the 1984 murder of 53-year-old Barbara Harrold who lived at The Street, Ightham, near Wrotham. Mrs Harrold died from multiple injuries six days after the explosion.

At one time Mr Cottingham was employed as an environmental health officer for Canterbury City Council.

The CPS has included Mr Cottingham on its Mid-Kent Court listings for tomorrow morning and confirmed that it is expecting him back in the country in time for the hearing.
