Maidstone Hockey Club's men’s team have put preparations for the forthcoming season on a positive footing by achieving a tournament success.

During June and July, the team took part in an invitational tournament at St Bede’s College in Eastbourne. They went unbeaten in the pool stages and finished top of their group, which saw them through to the last four on finals night. After winning their semi-final 10-3, they ran out 9-2 winners in the final.

The Maidstone squad comprised Kevin Johnson (player/coach), Tom Nissen (captain), Darren Marchant, Chris Bassano-Harper, Will Hutchings, Rob Fullerton-Batten, Rob Smith, Iain Brine, Jon Cooper, George Torry, Greg Laurenson and Joe Meaning.

The club have started pre-season training – on Mondays and Tuesdays for men and Wednesdays for ladies.

The league season gets under way for the club’s 11 sides on Saturday, September 19.

Anyone interested in playing, umpiring, coaching or just generally helping the club should contact the club administration officer, Mike Evans, on 07766 447985.
