Maidstone chairman Paul Bowden-Brown says he won’t be rushed into making a decision over the club’s future.

With Lashings supremo David Folb leading a bid to take over the Ryman League Premier Division side, Mr Bowden-Brown (pictured) has spent much of the past fortnight answering questions about the club’s finances.

Now it has emerged that Lashings will submit a formal proposal by Tuesday morning and the Stones shareholders will discuss whether to accept it after the club’s home game against Hastings at Homelands on Tuesday night.

The crux of the proposal is expected to be how much of the club’s existing debt Lashings are prepared to take on.

It is understood that the proposal will include a list of the creditors which Lashings want to be repaid by Mr Bowden-Brown.

Lashings representative Glenn Aitken said: "We do not want to bail out mistakes that have been made in the past. We want to make as clean a start as possible."

Mr Bowden-Brown confirmed: "We are expecting to receive a
formal offer shortly and that will be put forward for shareholders to discuss on Tuesday."

Despite Mr Folb setting a deadline of Friday, September 3, for the takeover to be completed, Mr Bowden-Brown added: "I remain positive about the situation but I’ve said all along, the club is the love of my life.

"We will act in the best interests of the club. We are not going to rush into anything."
