Kent County Show - tickets go on sale

Cricket on the Green and a village pub will be one of the new attractions at the Kent County Show when it opens its gates this summer.
The annual show will be going back to its roots this year with farming and all things rural taking centre stage at the Kent Showground in Detling, near Maidstone, on July 16, 17 and 18.
The cost of tickets, which go on sale today (Friday, April 16) has been held at the same price as last year, with tickets in advance costing £15 for adults; £11 for senior citizens and £7.50 for children.
The show is supported by the KM Group.
Chairman George Jessel said: “We recognised the need to continue offering a value for money product, that also allows lone parents to take advantage of our family discounts.”
New this year will be the Village Green, which will be the central feature of the show, complete with a cafe, village blacksmith and Punch and Judy show, cricket on the green plus a tug of war match on the Sunday afternoon, featuring several teams from the Tug of War Federation. There will also be village fete-style stalls, including a coconut shy.
New for 2010 will also be a petting area, where youngsters can see sheep and lambs, pigs and piglets, rabbits and even a farm dog, which will be in the agricultural area, next to the Farm and Country Club.
The Kent Young Farmers’ area is to be extended and organisers are proud that it is the largest gathering of young people and animals in Europe.
Major ring attractions will include a grand parade of livestock; show jumping and a display from the White Helmets Motorcycle Display Team.
The show will be giving away two complimentary child tickets with every pre-paid adult ticket purchased, a saving of £13.
