Tonbridge Angels manager Tommy Warrilow insists the speculation surrounding Frannie Collin’s future "should finish now" after the striker agreed to stay at Longmead until the end of next season.

The 24-year-old former England Schoolboy international, the leading scorer in Blue Square Bet South, signed a new contract after taking his tally for the season to 23 with a brace in last Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Weston-super-Mare.

And Warrilow, who has had several inquiries about Collin (pictured) from other clubs, including one unnamed League 1 outfit, said: "As far as I’m concerned all the speculation finishes now. I have got fed up with people telling me that we would lose Frannie at the end of this season and perhaps we don’t get the credit we deserve as a club because we do look after our players.

"The chairman (Steve Churcher) and I said to Fran we’d like to have a chat with him in the boardroom after Saturday’s game and Fran signed the new deal we offered him there and then.

"If he was playing football purely for financial reasons he wouldn’t have stayed because he knows he could have got a better deal elsewhere but it’s about enjoying your football and Fran loves it here.

"It’s great news for us to know that we have got the leading scorer in Conference South for another year. It sends out a good marker about the club and shows we are serious about pushing on."

Tonbridge face two games in three days, with a trip to Farnborough on Saturday followed by a home game with Boreham Wood on Monday as Warrilow’s side begin to catch up on their fixtures following the recent bad weather.
