Car fire in Leeds and hedge on fire in Maidstone

Maidstone's firefighters were busy yesterday evening, getting called out to two fires in a matter of hours.

A hedge caught fire in Hampshire Drive, Shepway, just after 7pm when a nearby bonfire got out of control.

No one was hurt and firefighters spent less than half an hour putting out the flames.

Later, an abandoned caravan caught fire at the side of the road in Forge Lane, Leeds.

Crews were called just after 9pm and spent about an hour at the scene.

The cause of the second fire is unknown.
