A motorist who fell asleep at the wheel while waiting at a set of traffic lights was found to be over the legal drink-drive limit.
Liam Anderson, from Maidstone, was spotted snoozing in his Ford Fiesta at about 6.30am on September 25 after downing booze the night before at a family party.
The 19-year-old, of Priory Close, East Farleigh, was at traffic lights in St Clements Way, Greenhithe.
He did not move-off when they changed and was seen to be asleep, so police were called.
When officers arrived they banged on his window and woke him up.
They gave him a breath-test which he failed and Anderson was charged with drink-driving. He admitted the offence when he appeared before magistrates in Medway on Wednesday.
The court heard he gave a reading of 66 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
A charge of driving whilst unfit through drink was withdrawn by the prosecution after Anderson pleaded guilty to the drink-driving offence.
James Nichols, prosecuting, said: "It was about 6.30am and his vehicle had stopped at the traffic lights and he looked asleep.
"Officers eventually woke him by banging on the window and they smelt alcohol on him. He's of previous good character."
The court also heard Anderson, an accounts executive, had been drinking at his cousin's 21st birthday celebrations the night before.
There had been caterers at the party and he said he had not known what he was being served.

He had also been sick in his car that morning before he fell asleep at the wheel.
Magistrates banned Anderson from driving for 18 months and fined him £384.
He must also pay a £154 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
