Welling United v Maidenhead United

WELLING manager Adrian Pennock has warned his team to avoid complacency against struggling Maidenhead on Saturday.

The Wings entertain Maidenhead at Park View Road looking for maximum points as they continue their challenge for a play-off place in Conference South.

It looks a home banker on paper but Pennock insisted that his side can’t afford to take the visitors lightly.

"It’s Carshalton and Yeading all over again," said Pennock, referring to two recent defeats on Welling’s travels in games they were expected to win.

"Maidenhead are fighting for their lives and they’ve just started to pick themselves up again.

"They’ve got a manager with new players and have got a chance of staying up. It’s not a case of just turning up and getting three points, we’ve got to be on top of our game."

The Wings boss did admit, however, that performances were not important and he is only concentrating on taking three points.

"At this stage of the season, it doesn’t matter how you play," he said. "If we have to dig in and get results in some games then that’s what we’ll do."

The Wings should have Rob Owen (dead leg) and Che Stadhart (ankle) available, but will be without defender Barry Ashby (hamstring) for three weeks and right-back Lee Gledhill (suspended) who misses the visit of Maidenhead and next week’s trip to Havant & Waterlooville.
