Wings quick out of the blocks

TWO GOALS: Rob Owen
TWO GOALS: Rob Owen

Eastleigh 1 - 3 Welling United

WELLING scored three first half goals to continue their impressive start to the Nationwide Conference season at Eastleigh on Saturday.

The visitors went ahead after 26 minutes when Rob Owen headed in a cross by Adrian Clarke.

The same combination led to Wings doubling their advantage on 35 minutes as Owen was again in the right place to convert Clarke's centre.

And it was 3-0 seven minutes before the break, this time Owen the provider for Chris Moores.

With the game won, Wings took their foot off the pedal in the second half and allowed Eastleigh back into the match.

The home side pulled a goal back 17 minutes from the end with a thunderous 30-yard drive which powered into the top right-hand corner.
