DESPITE dominating the second half Welling had to settle for a point at struggling Dorchester on Saturday.

The Wings had numerous chances to win the game but were denied by home keeper Darren Behcet and their own poor finishing.

Welling keeper Jamie Turner, who had his best game of the season to date, produced two excellent saves in the first 15 minutes.

Both one-handed efforts, Turner was at full stretch to deny Gary Bowles and then Jones Awuah.

That was all the home side had to offer, however, and it then became a question of whether Welling could break the deadlock.

Omari Coleman and Andy Pugh both missed the target before the latter was only denied a certain goal before half-time when Mark Jermyn produced a fine block on the line.

In the second half, Coleman was denied by brilliant save by Behcet and then player-manager Neil Smith headed wide from the resulting corner.

Smith and Coleman were both denied at the near post and Welling then had two chances to win the game in stoppage time but Coleman dragged his first effort wide and then saw a second attempt four minutes into injury time headed off the line.

The only sour note for the Wings was the loss of stand-in skipper Tony Sinclair just before half-time with a dislocated knee cap.
