Winger heads for Park View Road exit door

IN FORM: Matt Bodkin
IN FORM: Matt Bodkin

WELLING winger Matt Bodkin looks set to sign for Nationwide Conference Grays on Saturday.

Bodkin, who had a pre-season trial at League 1 Gillingham, has attracted plenty of attention after hitting top form in the past month.

And, because he is a non-contract player, he is allowed to move to Grays now on a free transfer.

Welling manager Adrian Pennock said: "Grays put seven days in for him last Saturday and it looks like he will be leaving us. I always knew his potential and he has been exceptional in the past month.

"Obviously, I’m disappointed that he didn’t want to sign a contract but I’ve got a lot of time for Matt and I can understand his reasons."

Ben Lewis, Mark Goodfellow, Jamie Day and Martin Carthy are all expected to be fit for Saturday's trip to Cambridge City.
