Wanderers suffer play-off heartache

Tooting & Mitcham United 1 Cray Wanderers 0

Tooting & Mitcham United again proved to be the nemesis of Cray Wanderers as they defeated Ian Jenkins' men in Saturday's Ryman League Division 1 South play-off final at Imperial Fields.

The only goal of the game came 12 minutes from time when Tooting striker Paul Vines volleyed home.

It was no more than United deserved after dominating the match. Vines had earlier come close when he somehow shot over after getting on the end of John Henry Hayden's 33rd-minute cross.

It was a case of one game too many for the Wands who failed to perform in their second match in less than 48 hours.
