Gillingham 0 Northampton Town 1

IT WAS more disappointment for Gillingham on Saturday as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Northampton Town at Priestfield on Saturday.

The visitors scored the winner on 23 minutes when Andy Kirk netted from close range after Brent Sancho had initially cleared off the line.

The Gills rarely threatened although they were unlucky not to equalise 10 minutes later as first Andrew Crofts and then Dean McDonald were denied by fine Mark Bunn saves.

Ronnie Jepson's side now lie in the bottom four in League 1 with three points from four matches.

Gillingham: Randolph, Jupp, Sancho, Cox, Jackman, Bentley, Crofts (Spiller 82), Flynn, Jarvis, McDonald, Mulligan (Ndumbu-Nsungu 71).
Subs not used: Johnson, Easton, Pouton.
