Superb end to season for windsurfing star

HAT-TRICK: Keith Atkinson
HAT-TRICK: Keith Atkinson

KEITH ATKINSON rounded off the 2006 windsurfing season with a fantastic hat-trick of UK Formula titles.

Atkinson won all five races at the final UK Windsurfing Association (UKWA) Inland event at Farmoor, giving him the British Formula Inland Windsurfing Championship title for 2006.

In so doing, Atkinson, from Wilmington, near Dartford, amassed vital points to retain his overall 2005 title, which made him the 2006 British Formula Windsurfing Champion.

The titles followed the British Formula Open Championship Atkinson picked up in July in a memorable weekend at Christchurch, when he won seven out of seven races.

Atkinson has had no less than 28 first places out of a total of 34 UKWA races.

However, his championship title bid had to be put on hold when he missed the fifth round at Clacton due to a clash with the World Formula Windsurfing championships in Korea.
