Sittingbourne v Sheppey

Sheppey head coach Frank Davis is hoping to head into the Christmas break on a high as they head for a derby tussle with Sittingbourne on Saturday.

The Island side, who were without a game last weekend, sit second from bottom in Kent 1 and face a Sittingbourne team with one eye on promotion.

Despite the contrast in the pair’s fortunes Davis remains confident his side can get a result and will be asking his players to show their passion at the weekend.

“I’m confident we can go there and get a in,” said Davis. “We know that league positions don’t matter at all in these derby matches. We have to play with passion and if the team are up for it and passionate then we’re capable of anything.

“I tell the players to play with passion and desire every week and there should be more of it in the amateur game anyway because it’s a player’s choice to play, it’s not a career or vocation.”
