Jake Gess scored his fourth goal of the season as Whitstable ended a run of five successive league defeats with a 1-1 home draw against in-form Folkestone.

However results elsewhere, including wins for fellow-strugglers Crowborough and Whyteleafe, means Marc Seager's men are today propping up the rest of the division.

Jimmy Dryden netted his sixth goal of the season to put the visitors ahead just before half-time, but Whitstable pulled level two minutes after the break when Gess headed in after Dan Wisker had flicked on skipper Liam Quinn's free-kick, only their fifth goal in eight starts.

Tony Dolby's last minute free-kick gave Cray with a 2-1 victory at Dulwich.

Cray went ahead when Ryan Royston headed Colin Luckett's corner towards goal and the ball was helped over the line by a Dulwich defender.

Five minutes after the break their lead was wiped out when an Daryl Plummer reacted quickly to score, before a typical Dolby set-piece settled the game.

Sittingbourne returned from Croydon Athletic with a 3-2 win under their belts in an entertaining game.

The Brickies led three times, but Croydon replied within a minute on the first two occassions before Hicham Akhazzan gave them maximum points with a 79th minute winner.

Richard Brady and Tom Bradbrook got the other Sittingbourne goals, while Sam Clayton and Daniel Waldren struck for the home side.

Ashford were denied their second away win of the season as a late Steve Harper wonder goal salvaged a point for Burgess Hill in a 1-1 draw.

Town took the lead midway through the first-half after a superbly taken goal from Paul Jones and were leading until 12 minutes from the end when Harper curled in a 25-yard free-kick.

However, the visitors were largely indebted to their recalled goalkeeper Jamie Riley for the point after the stopper pulled off four outstanding saves as Town’s inconsistent start to the season continues.

Chatham were comprehensively beaten 3-0 at home by East Thurrock in Division 1 North.
