Mark McCammon insists the Gillingham fans have yet to see his full potential after revealing he is still short of full fitness.

The striker netted his first goal for the Gills last weekend but he is still some way of his peak.

“I’m nowhere near to the best of my capability yet,” he said. “I know that when I’m fit I can be a handful and when I get to that fitness level I know what I’m capable of.

“I’m not as fit as I would like. I missed the whole of pre-season and felt a bit sluggish at certain times of the season.

“The more games I play, the fitter I will get. I just need to work hard in the training sessions, get my head down and do that extra in training and push to that fitness level I’m capable of.

“I can definitely get another 30 or 40 per cent out of myself. I’m not playing to my best capability yet and the manager knows that as well.”
