Long trip north on opening day

CHARLTON will begin their Premiership campaign with games against two newly-promoted clubs.

The Addicks will travel to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland on the opening day of the season on Saturday, August 13.

And the following Saturday, Wigan will come to town for the first game at The Valley.

Champions League winners Liverpool come to the Valley on August 23, with reigning Premiership champions Chelsea visiting on September 17 and Manchester United on November 19.

Charlton will host title contenders Arsenal on Boxing Day, while Old Trafford will be the venue for Alan Curbishley’s team on the last day of the season (May 7).
